PR Update 11/16/07 - another drop

My gaming site received another drop today as I noticed I went from a PR 3 to PR 0. This was only after the latest update that rocked the web world a few weeks ago when we went from a PR 5 to a PR 3.

I actually re-launched the site RIGHT before the last PR update and started putting up quality content, basically daily, from gamers who love what they do and want to build the community. I cannot believe that about a month later I have been docked so hard.

I am currently only running adsense on the site and will not even tread into any other advertising territory. My goals are still the same - write quality content and make a premiere destination for online gamers, but this is definitely a rough blow from G. I now see a few people reporting this happening across forums so its clear another update happened.

Is your site going through some kind of penalty, because I don't see any change in the PRs of any of my sites.

Is anyone else's site dropping? MPG have you checked with DigPagerank to be sure? if your relying on the toolbar sometimes it plays up and dosen't show the PR..

    Just a point of precaution.

There are many tools which are showing PR 0 for all sites you first make sure that you drop for real or its only glitch of pr checker tools. ;)

This is correct, really all the tools still work, Google just limits the amount of inquries per IP.

Really? Well two of my blogs were PR4 about 3 weeks ago, then dropped to PR2 at the beginning of Nov and are now PR0. To say I am pissed off is an understatement.

Digpagerank bypass the limit quite successfully.

I am in the same boat, I had a PR5 web directory, about a month ago I added a blog and other quality content.

    1st update: PR5 to PR4
    2nd update: PR4 to PR2
    Now: PR2 to PR0

5 to 0 in less than two months.

I have also noticed many of my pages dropped from the index completely.

Strange thing is I do not think it has affect any of my SE results. I do not target any keywords but one keyphrase I have done some monitoring on has actually improved

I think I see the same thing on some of my sites as well. I had one go from a PR3 to a 2, and now it's showing 0 as of today. I'm not going to freak out quite yet as I've seen this happen many times during a Google dance....

And to add something else to this: the site that is now showing PR0 also keeps changing the number of backlinks Google shows as well. I had 15 backlinks with a PR3, now Google shows 54 backlinks with PR0, wonder if they are related???

One of my blog is now pr 0 from pr 2. I think google is punishing all those sites that are engaged in selling text links. Can anyone confirm if they were selling text links and their pr dropped recently ??

Where are you checking the PR?? have you checked digpagerank \ Google toolbar? I'm seeing alot of threads about PR dropping to 0 when in fact it's just smartpagerank and other tools that are failing.

Any tool I use from the big ones like iwebtool or from unknown mom and pop PR checkers all show 0 for the same site. And I really don't think it's that the tools are down because they would be showing screwy results for MOST sites, not just one. Everywhere I check I get the same results. Two of my sites show the PR they have always had, and one of my sites shows as 0 now....

My site that dropped from PR5 to PR3 has now lost PR to PR0 on most internal pages (but so far kept PR3 on the homepage and a few other pages - a matter of time I guess)

I can't imagine the reason. The site does have a niche directory attached, which I changed from paid to free a few weeks ago so I didn't look like I was selling links - perhaps the existence of the directory, with 100 pages of outbound links, is a problem, although it's just there as a useful resource.

The whole thing is turning into a joke, I have a site with about 5 link-exchange backlinks that hasn't been touched for a year and gets 5 visitors a day that has higher pagerank than this main site that has many thousands of backlinks, and thousands of visitors every day.

I don't mind much about the PR, that's losing all credibility anyway - the worry is that SERPS might disappear as well, still for a reason I don't understand.

It's also disappointing that google themselves don't feel the need to make a comment, although they rush to correct 'big' sites like youtube, statcounter or problogger they seem happy to ignore us 'small-fry'.

    Happy? No

    edit re comment above:
I can confirm I am NOT selling links!

Google toolbar as well as other tools are showing pro I checked seologs.com, they are showing as pr 2 but when I checked the pr from various google data centers it is showing pro on all of them ?? It clearly means that pr is gone

You are right. We are giving to much importance to pr creating a hype about it. More importance should be given to serps and quality. lolzz. My blog still ranks 4th on google 1st page for a competitve keyword :) SCREW GOOGLE !!! :D:D
