PR up but no traffic

The last PR update my main site went up to PR5 yet I still get no more traffic, I was getting little traffic from Google before.

What is the point in PR if you don't get any additional traffic.

Am I wrong to think this.

PR doesn't have anything to do with traffic.

It's really only useful if you're selling links.

haha. Yeh, it's just a vague visual representation. As for the original question, if you target keywords few people search, then you will not get much traffic. You should do some keyword research, and find out the best keywords, target those, and work in that direction. HTH

PR doesn't mean a whole lot anymore. Just get lots of inbound links to your site and target high traffic search terms that relate to the content of your site.

A few new websites of my clients amazingly went up to PR4 in just a couple of months after website launching. They don't have a lot of content, nor a lot of links from other websites. Why do you think they went up in PR so fast?

1 decent link can get you a PR 4. I've had sites hit PR 4 with no other links besides a few signature links in forums.

Public PR changes every 3 or 4 months, if a site was launched just before a public update this could happen. If they went to a PR4 it would probably mean they had a few PR4+ links pointing at them.

All it takes is one good link from a page with PR 4 or more to get a PR 4.

Oh, I see. That may be possible...
Anyway, how do you know when PR is updated? or going to be updated? Is it listed somewhere?

I track it with search status, an extension for firefox. They seem to update PR quarterly and the last update was in July.

Yeah, I am using the Firefox extension too. Although I have IE but I didn't install the toolbar, guess it may slow down IE a bit..

By the way, I wonder if the algorithm to check PR in the Firefox extension is the same as the Google toolbar? Or at least, are the results the same between the two?
