PR Question

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by The Site Man, May 20, 2009.

I am currently running a blog with adsense that is doing decently well and have decided to focus more on PR lately. Currently it is at PR1 and has backlinks coming from ezinearticles, various directories, and more. I just managed to get a link to my website from another website in the same niche that is PR 4.

Anyone have an idea of how that will affect its page rank?

The link needs to be on a page with high PR, not on an inside page of a site whose front page has a high PR, do you understand the difference?
What is important is the PR of the page on which your link is.

Across the Globe 62% people use Google to find what they looking for on web. "Google Sucks" doesn't Fit. If you follow proper guidelines as mentioned on their webmaster Guidelines page - http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=35769 , there wont be any reason why your site wont be included in their index. Just give it some time before you can even think that the Biggest Search Engine on Web is not working the way it should :)

As a matter of fact i do follow the proper guidelines :)

My website ranks top in google for several keywords, however, when I search for this certain keyword it literally doesnt show up in the search at all even though it is one of the keywords i have focused on the most (and it is not too competetive either). this does not make much sense, as it should at least be showing up somewhere within the results

I work extensively on SEO and even we have websites ranked on some popular keywords. Would you like to share the exact information with me so that I might help you with it?

This isn't strictly true. I have seen back links to a few of my sites show up in Google where the pages are grey bars. If you can get a link from an internal page of a site that has high page rank then grab it because it still passes you some juice and in the future that page may have a good rank.

Yes, backlinks show up not matter what PR the pages are. But for PR considerations I still believe it's important that the page your link is on has a good PR. Maybe in the future any page can have a good PR, what matters is the PR now, because the future is too unpredictable and we have to work on something today and make choices now.

Page rank is nothing... content is everything... high PR will not put you on top of search engines..

PR 4 link will definitely give you a boot. Better you use the anchor text of the link as the key word which you need to show up in google. I hope it will help you.

Yes i agree with junvalasek his a right PR is not give you top ranking in Search engines.
Quality contents is must to get good ranking and do link exchange with related good ranking site.
and generate Quality back links means High PR back links (do Blog Comments).

just PR doesnot matter, your link should be on the page which has more than 100 yahoo back links and if this page has some google back links then it rocks. even if the page has not any pr or it has.. not important, but be attentive that any page (where you are placing your link) must have many more back links.

High-quality backlink increasingly difficult to find, and many forums will suspend your account, when there is a link to see the time signature! When you pr low, it is difficult to link exchange. Therefore, a number of high-quality articles to write, to let others take the initiative to you, the best way!

Forget page rank!! Work on building links to get better SERP's. Traffic is where you make your money. Unless your wanting to sell links.

thanks for the perspectives everyone, this is great.

junvalasek: Yes, I certainly agree with you that content is essential to having a successful website. Content is something I have focused on a lot, and it has certainly helped me to get my website to the top for certain keywords. However, if you have the best content but no backlinks and a crappy pr, your chances of being in the top of the search results will be compromised. Obviously content should come first as without any content your website is dead in the water, but I feel that backlinks/pr are something quite important as well

xtremenitro911: Building links is what I am doing; in the process I hope to attain a better page rank as well, as that WILL have an effect on search results as well.

new question btw. do any of you know if google counts backlinks that are from websites that appear in its supplemental results? or are backlinks only good if they appear on a page thats shows up in normal search results?
