    Hi DP,

I'm facing a dilemma at the moment.

I got a high PR site (6) that been around for years but it's slowly losing it visitors as the content are seldom being updated and I've lost interest in it.

On the other hand, I got another site with PR 4 that i'm passionate about and has it's content updated daily and they are both on the same niche as the first site.

As the first site got a higher UV daily, I would like to re-direct it to the second site with a lower PR. What will the impact be on both site if I do this?

If you set up a 301 redirect from the old, dying site to the newer site, the old site will essentially disappear from the search engines. The impact on the new site is impossible to predict since you're not simply moving a site to a new domain, you're just merging the two. If the topics of the two sites aren't closely related, it's even possible that the rankings of the new site could fall due to the dilution of the anchor text of the combined links. On the whole, anything you do to connect these sites has some risk that it will be seen as a "link scheme". Your best choice would probably be to simply link to the new site from the old site's main page, and "nofollow" most of the other links on the old site's main page (except the link to an HTML sitemap page) to funnel more of the site's PageRank to the new site. Just don't post more than one link on the old site to the new site if you do this.

If I had a PR6 domain there is no way I would not be interested in it anymore. There are plenty of ways to spruce it up so people come back and new ones visit. But a 301 redirect will be sufficient for what you want to do. If it was me, I would be working on the Pr6 site instead.

what is the purpose to redirect your PR6 to your PR4 site? Traffic? I think not worth enough if you aims just to send traffic, especially if the 2 site in the different niche. Think that the 2 site is your assets, if you feel you can't or not interested anymore why don't you sell it? then you can works focused to your PR4 site.

Are the two sites thematically related? I somehow can't see why you can't work on the pr 6 site if you are so concerned about PR.
