PR question - domain or page based?

    Hi,

I am trying to get backlinks from high PR sites, but I have a fairly basic question.

Is the PR of the linking page or the linking domain used? The reason I am asking is that I see a number of people talking about PR5 directories, but the actual link pages are a much lower PR, so I am assuming that the PR of the domain is used by google rather than the PR of the individual page, but I thought I would check to make sure.

If the PR of the domain is used, what PR is used - the home page, the average PR, or some other method?

    Thanks in advance!

The PR of the page your link is on is most important. In saying that, getting a link on a PR0 page of a PR8 domain is still a very valuable link.

Well the actual "PR transfer" is page based. But looking at the long term value of a link goes past the idea of being only page based. If you get a PR0 link on a PR8 domain, your a happy chappy.
