Hello ! I have a site which had page rank 4 and after a downtime of 10 days, the toolbar says No page rank information available ? What can i do ? Thanks
The same thing happened to many SEO friends. So it is acceptable that Google is updating it's algorithms. So wait and watch till next PR updates. Till that time concentrate on SERP and increase traffic. You e-business should not get affected because of PR (Trademark) given by Google. Till next updates keep building good quality of back links.
Look very close to the home page URL string and see if you made changes to it. Any change to the string will casue you to lose page rank. It will happen when you go from a .ASP to .PHP or .HTM to a .HTML It also will happen when you change the default starting page for your web site. Note: Being down for 10 days will not alter your Page Rank. If you would have set up a Google Webmaster Tools account, you would know what Google is thinking about your site. Also, none of the SEs like sites that are not up ALL the time. Make sure that you have solid hosting with 24/7/365, if not, move the site ASAP. Saving $3 per month is not worth it.
we waited on that for more than a year, PR is all jacked up and google reps say that our site is just fine and that nothing is wrong with indexing.
I think that the downtime is the problem but i'm not entirely sure. Also, the pr dropped on all pages, subdomains, etc. Also, the website is 11 months old but when i search link:site.com, no link appears. LE: google webmaster tools says that No pages from your Sitemaps are currently in Google's index. Indexing can take time. You may find it helpful to review our information for webmasters and webmaster guidelines, but new content it's indexed ( after the downtime ). Also, i saw some changes in SERP and traffic. Thank you all for the reply !
yea sometimes the PR toolbar will freak out and show no data available temporarily. If you didn't change anything on the site then everything should return to normal shortly. PR doesn't matter anyway as far as rankings are concerned
stevelott, are you sure that pr doesen't matter in ranking ? PageRank reflects our view of the importance of web pages by considering more than 500 million variables and 2 billion terms. Pages that we believe are important pages receive a higher PageRank and are more likely to appear at the top of the search results. ( http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html)
PR is just one of the mils factors to determine your ranking and in many cases there are lots of low PR sites that can rank better than high PR sites. so i would assume that PR is not that important.
Thank you all for the replays ! I've noticed that link:mysite.com - on google - doesn't show any link ( before the downtime worked ). I have quality content, unique and quality links. I don't know what to do...
It could just be a glitch with the PR tool, it happens sometimes when things are being updated. Keep building links and see if it comes back
I faced the same problem yesterday. Yesterday morning, browser shown PR0 of my directory when today morning It shown PR2..I was also surprised to see this...I think Google is updating something...
