Since the deciding factors for whether or not to submit to a paid directory seem to be pagerank and page strength, which one of those numbers is more important to you?
I still go with PR more, but still have the PS link on my toolbar, same here spent a few hours a week ago, trying to figure out what makes it go up, but dindnt really find anything useful.
ic which is is more of a factor when determining rankability and the power a directory has to help sites listed rank (not drive up PR)
It seems like all of my directories have a PS of 4, and no, I didn't do anything to manipulate, wouldn't know how. Is that a good number or decent?
Yes ok im the one who said...neither matters Page Rank... well the way i see it you shouldnt be worried about page rank (though deep inside some of us do ) and you should be worried more with the content.. Page strength... Cool little tool with just a little more acuracy then iwebstools page rank predication which is just for kicks so... thx malcolm
It's reall not easy for me to decide. I think both matters equally Currently i have PR of 5 and Pagestrength of 5 as well...for AllyDirectory So i think i will go for both
Both are toys but only 1 has any relevance in SERPs (though it matters little). You should try to get your site linked on sites or pages of a similar theme and develop unique content that is on topic with your site. That is how you end up high in the engines and get some real traffic.
Pagerank PS is a grt toys but maximum times it's not showing the same result. When It's failed to collect data from SE or alexa or others; it's showing low PS. Not that much strong to rely
Both matters actually. Where as PR reflects how much importance Google gives to your site --PS reflects how many other factors --like amount of backlinks/technoratti/del.icio votes you have. Vote from highly reputed sites ( read PR) is important --at the same time important is how much SE friendly is the directory in question. Naturally --the directories with higher PS have loads of backlinks and are spidered in quick time. I guess PR5-PS5 is what is standard --STRONG -in my personal book. But Mike --don't loose heart mate--- I too don't have any directory of that quality. But your frogengine can easily achieve PS5 in 2 weeks time. You just need little amount of $$$
jhnrang I really like the way you said that "a little amount of $$$" )) Do you mean a "little amount" like $ or a "little amount" like $$$ ?
Lol --A little $$ means any amount! Just get sitewide on big sites (with huge number of cached pages) with low or no PR --it will cost you little --but your Yahoo backlinks will jump like a belle. Backlinks amount contribute a lot to PS. So its just an estimate. @ Malcolm & Erect Directory OK -- I understand --Unique contents are the key for high SERPs and traffic from SEs. But do they translate into submissions? I highly doubt it. So ranking high on SERPs for a directory is pointless unless you run AdSense on it. I have my reasons---- Who does pay & submit to paid directories? Do you think Search Engine searchers does??? I think not. They are normal internet users who are just looking for relevant info. Its the webmasters who submit to directories --isn't? And I don't think any webmasters verifies directories with SERPs ranking. They do verify --its PR/PS/amount of backlinks ---but hardly SERPs. And you find these webmasters on forums --not on SEs searching directories to list their websites.
I would go with Pagerank, PS is broken 2rd's of the time. PS is just a tool that pulls data and hands it to you, then it add it's all up and give you the numbers that you really don't agree with*hehe he. One day it's PS4, the next is PS 3.5. Page strength tool to me is like a PR prediction tool, you really cannot count on it to determine the true value of the site.
Btw. I just came across this article by Saad which I recommend to anyone who is not quite sure what PS is: http://www.linksholder.com/blog/what-is-page-strength.html
I would think PR is little more important than PS, IMO. The additional factors to score PS are not necessary. 2 biggest misleading factors: .edu or .gov links themselves shouldn't give a site any advantage unless those links got good PR. del.ico.us links can be faked easily. These can basically add to other factors, including PR itself, to score points for PS, making PS seemingly a better method to evaluate websites, but I don't consider those factors to be so important.
