My client holds a few domains that are underdeveloped
    - 1 1/2 year old .travel domains
    - have one page ORIGINAL CONTENT on them
    - The content is quite lengthy.
    - On the recent google PR update they all got PR2
    - no backlinks show up with Google or Yahoo
    - Google does not even report any indexed pages in some of the domains
    - domains were purchased new (not dropped)

what do you make of this ? can anyone offer an explanation ?

EDIT forgot to mention the domains where pointing for a brief period to a domain with PR4

That seems to be artificial pagerank boost through redirect.

    What do you mean ?
the domain was for a while pointing to an already developed domain with PR4
would it borrow the pagerank from there ?
and this what appears to be its own pagerank now ?

I think it's likely that the point to a PR4 site has had an impact. Without creating backlinks, the content showed from this PR4 site must have given Google a reason to crawl and index it.
