PR of newly created Directory

My questions is, if you just created a new Directory, how do you bring up its PR without making it a "free" directory to start off with?

I know that a higher PR directory is more appealing to webmasters to add their site to your directory, than a directory with a PR0.

IS it best to make a newly created directory a "free" directory to bring up its PR then swicth over to paid once your directory PR is High or is there a other BKM (better/best known method)?

    Thanks....

You don't get a higher PR by making it free and getting more submissions.
Your PR increases when you have more links to your site and not in your site, so making it payed or not as nothing to do with having a better PR or not.

That would be alot harder than simply going with the free model first but it can be done by simply submitting to directories & the such...

    Yep

Start of with a free model, people will obviously link to you from free directory lists ect, then people submit links maybe linking back to you increasing your PR, then add a fee;)

correct! then it would be another website linking back to your website. +1 for the backlinks.

I would suggest heading over to vilesilencer.com and grabbing that whole list of free directories and start submitting away :)

There are folks buying expired domain names that already have PR and using those for directories.....that is why you see dumb names like www.PaulsReststop.com directory. I am not sure those page ranks will stick, even if some of the back links stay the relevance will be gone and probably the back links too.

I would start it as "paid" at the very start then build backlinks for it.
If you want to start a "free" one, keep it free FOREVER!

I think you will need to build backlinks.

So you have quite a few months of investment to do.

I would stay away from too many reciprocals.

I mean a minor percentage wouldn't hurt but dont base all of your links on reciprocals.

submit your site to a few good directories, so your own gets classified or categorized in the search engines.

    And then promote your site.

I'll start gettin' those backlinks once my Directory is ready.

Do most directories start off as free then paid?

Most directories start by buying a few high PR links, waiting for the PR to get updated and then launching. To do it properly there can be some pretty high startup costs.

But in the end, it is all worth it!.....I believe taking that extra time to build your PR and the design of your directory, will be worth it when you get your directory up and running, soon you'll webmaster begging to be acceppted to your directory....hey it might get as popular DMOZ....

I believe that to much deep linking your on borrowed time on pr. directories are a long time business a-z.
i'd focus moore on your site content/ script to get high serp to get high traffic/ whitch is auto on pr./Once you get to this point you will see popularity rt away with plenty index.

Buying pr. your on borrowed time before google takes it/ when i build site content and correct script than im in control......... ...... Don't ancore to large sites when they drop you drop.
