PR of a parked domain???

I just saw a domain with PR3 that is parked on sedo. I only want to know that if somebody wants to increase a PR of a parked domain through back links and other stuff is legal or not?
Actually I am new at PR thing and don't know much about this. I only sell domains before but now I jumped into this pool as well. Please help

i guess this site was working before, had some backlinks, traffic and then it was shutted down, but the pr remained...should be gone in some time i think

 

So you are saying that one can not increase PR of a parked domain through back links...

 

Did you check if the domain name still had backlinks pointing to the top level domain URL? I'll bet 100:1 that some still exist and that's the reason the domain is retaining a Pagerank value.

Like I said, any domain that can actually render some kinda of HTML can have a Pagerank.

 

pr is related backlinks. being parked or not is not an issue for pr

It could be a fake PR. I was even surprised that Wikipedia got a fake PR.

 

I have a parked domain that went from pr 1 to pr 2. It's all about backlinks.

 

increasing PR is all about gaining backlinks...whether if its a parked domain. as long as the site is published, it will get a PR with gaining backlinks.

 

All back links no matter wheather I change its position from one place to another or develop it in future?
