Yes...ofcourse.. it's absolutely possible. One of my sites got PR5 from PR0 within one and half month. That site is now PR6 in recent update.
why should that be ironic? i have a pr3 site (NOT the one in my sig) which outrankes a years-old-authority site that got pr5. it's all about nice targetting. if you have no clear target and you are no good seo, you will need high PR to get anything at all
Sure, everything is possible, however PR alone will not get you any higher rankings in the serps, though.
Pagerank has always been a very questionable topic. You can get PR transferred to your website from irrelevant websites. However, the big question is whether or not PR from a website that is completely relevant to yours is better than a backlink from a relevant page with no PR. If it were better, than PR would help out your SERPS in that case.
Websites that are getting PR from nowhere could be a flaw in Google's system. Or maybe you really can't see which backlinks are transferring the PR because those pages aren't indexed by Google or Yahoo. But remember, just one backlink could mean the difference between your site having PR and not having PR.
I built a new site for a client on December 1st (using Wordpress) it is now a PR3... But I don't care much for PR but for where it ranks in search engines... btw, I have to disagree with gregdavidson, you can get FREE links from PR4-PR8 sites... It takes time and effort, but it can be done, legally and free. For instance, I am sitting on a list of 60 high PR DOFOLLOW sites where I could get a backlink from (No, I won't sell the list) all I am saying is that you can find these sites.
Guys and girls, I realize that PR is not the be all, end all, I just felt quite accomplished to do it this quick. That being said, monetizing my blog is the ultimate goal and I have been quite successful at that.
Well my friend, you have proved that it is possible. I have checked your domain on CheckPageRank.net and your site is only two months old, is a niche blog, and has achieved a valid PageRank of 5. You are legit. What you did or how you did it is unknown to me. I believe that it has something to do with niche, and of course content relevance. Because you post high quality content that is relevant to your site's niche, I do believe that has something to do with your achievement. Do not expect your PageRank to be stable, however. Most sites like yours will keep that PR for the first short-term of its life. I must ask, is your content 100% unique, because it looks like it's posted from RSS feeds, and if it is not its own genuine content, your PageRank will fall. If that's the case, start selling links now, and you will generate some generous income. Keep posting content. Your site is doing great. I cannot believe a site with so little backlinks has achieved such a high PR, take it for granted while you can. How much traffic are you receiving daily? And what are your main search keywords?
it happens and it can be valid or an error from google. I had a domain with Pr7 no idea how it got SEVEN!!!! Didnt do anything was single page too! after next update PR0 so... it happens!
Let me guess, you're referring to posting comments on Link Love blogs? Or do you secretly slip your link on somebody's high PR wiki page and hope they don't take it off? Those are a couple of ways that I know of.
The big question isn't where your PR is coming from. The part where you got me is how you got websites with high PR to exchange links with you so quickly if you started with no PR or a PR0. Normally you start on the bottom and slowly move your way up. So to accomplish this so quickly is something else.
Maybe you can share some of that information without giving up your exact sources. At least tell us what kind of websites we should be looking at. I would do it for you but maybe I'm just too nice of a guy.
There are a few forums where your "profile page" gets an automatic pr3-4 and it grows. You can add your HOMEPAGE there using anchor text. They are dofollow. Some .edu sites offer similar things. So you get a PR5 or higher backlink from a .edu site Dofollow as well. So far I only found 1 .gov site that allowed me to do this.
The traffic for my site varies from 500 unique visitors a day to 4500 uniques a day based on the content of my article. All of my articles are 100% mine with no duplication. My niche has been a research topic of mine for years and I finally get to put it to use, which is quite exciting!
