I own www.stockhideout.com we have a pr of 5 but the search engines under keywords such as penny stocks we rank very poor. We have plenty of backlinks also. does anyone know why this happens?

Because PR is only part of the ranking algorithm. Have you addressed all the other factors involved in ranking?

maybe the keyword you want to rank has too much competition.

Use www.backlinkwatch.com to look at the keywords that you have in your backlinks. Links that are "StockHideout.com" or "Visit Someone's Homepage" won't be much help to you. Also, make sure you get links from relevant websites.

Your probabyl have too much competition. Also, keep in mind "search results" and "how many times shearched upon" to make a guess about your competition.

you can see how much competition you have on every keyword by searching the exact keyword your targeting and see the numbers of search results that you received that will be your competition...try to analyze those sites from pages 1-3 and see how they seo their site and it'll give you idea on what you're missing...
