This question is based on people trading links asking for PR 2 links or PR 1. Do you think it is better to build links to you, from the point of view of SEO/SEM from 100 sites with PR varying from 1 to 5, let's say, than to build links from 100 sites with PR 5? Could this be close to building links with only one keyword instead of varying the keywords? Please, experienced webmasters feedback would be appreciated! Thanks!

Yeah, sounds better to have 100 links from PR 5 sites but I have seen people asking for links from PR 1 and 2 only, because that is what they need. It also may be based on price, but it also may look unnatural to have high PR links only. I don't know, with today's changes in SEO, anything is possible.
Maybe it's because of limitation in their budget. But when it comes to link exchanges, of course you might want to get a site with the same PR on par with your site, or else the trade won't happen in the first place.
It would be great to have 100 PR5 links. You would likely be banned from Google as it wouldn't look right. It is best to get a mix so it looks natural
Whatever u do, make sure it look natural. If you are planning to buy 100 PR5 links from TNX/TLA than better be careful, sudden pop up of 100 high PR links can cause problems for your site
