PR Links Being Sold on the DP Black Market

It is with great shock and disgust that I have discovered that some here are selling links on sites which they do not own and then apparently pocketing the profits. Here's how I found it out: I gave ftp access to findoptimalhealth.com to a couple link builders here on dp who were supposed to be doing 3-way link exchanges for me. Some of them did the 3-way link exchanges - which resulted in a number of appearing on my site. So far so good...

Until I posted looking to buy links on pr2 pages and karan47 emails me offering to sell me a link on my own site for $20 per month! I now wonder how many of the other links on my resulted from someone unethically taking advantage of the ftp access I gave him and not actually from the 3-way link exchanges that I assumed were the reason for all the links! I wonder how many in addition to karan47 are engaging in this dishonest behavior by selling something that is not theirs to sell. If this were hub caps or stereos we would call it black market and karan47 and other like him would go to jail for stealing!

Mods please ban karan47 and any others that are known to be doing this! I do not wish to support this black market nor be a victim of it.

I realize many people selling links here own the sites they sell links on. But obviously some do not and they are doing it without the site owners knowing and keeping money which is not theirs! Going forward we will be very careful which sites we buy links on and maybe even contact the business to make sure they know links are being sold on their site by someone on here.

Anyone else had experience like this with dishonest links sellers on DP? Perhaps we as the Dp community or the Dp mods should require some proof of ownership/identify before links can be sold on site. For example the person selling the links must be reachable through the email or tel listed for the domain listed on Whois. - Just thinking out loud.

Your concerns are noted, however we're not going to ban someone after you already gave them permission to use your site. Whether you consider it dishonest or not, it hardly violates our forum rules when you've already approved their use of your resources.

My recommendation to you and others: don't give anyone access to your site(s).
