What sort of PR would a current PR0 site get with 2 PR4 and 1 PR3 sites linking to it?

    Thanks all

I think it depends on how many other links those 3 sites have, but im not really sure.

Don't get hung up on PR. Build quality content. It will reap far more rewards than the coveted PR rank.

    What Vito said.

But as for your question, I haven't found a reliable way to calculate the PR exactly. I'd say PR2 or 3, but that's a guess.

Build up a solid variety of links and keep your content 'fresh n lively' and work continuously at promoting your site, then the PR etc will follow:)

I think the others covered it, but I would just add that if your first PR number is higher than you'd expect, don't get too excited--and don't be upset if it drops on the next update.

I don't know if there's a way to calculate it, but here are two quick examples I've seen:

    1. I've had a site since 2000 that never had any content on it, but had one PR3 link to it. That made it a PR3 for a few years, but this last update shows a PR2 (still not bad for a blank page with 1 incoming link).

    2. I site-wide linked to a new PR0 page from a PR3 site (real content, online since 1999--not blank like the last example) and the first update showed a PR5. I just laughed because I knew that wasn't going to last... next update: PR2.

I don't know how much domain age might come into play with my examples, especially that most people worrying about building from PR0 are probably dealing with new sites.

Maybe this will help put the importance of PR into perspective:

Matt Cutts: More Info on Pagerank

Particularly towards the end of the comments where Matt says, "Sounds like Martinibuster is handling most of the common questions just fine," and links to this:

Jim Boykin: Pagerank Bar doesn't Equal Search Engine Rankings.

Facts & Myths aside, I always catch myself looking at the little green bar while surfing the web... I just don't base any important decisions in life on what it says. ;)
