PR has no value. See what I did

I don't agree with you here. I make fresh sites and get them on google first page depending on overture or competitive keywords. I have a site which is hardly 40 days old, having overture over 100k and got it ranked on google first page and it has got just PR3 in last pr update which is almost nothing these days. So for me Pr is not a big factor but Serps and ofcourse traffic.

www.dmoz.org has a PR of 0 on some data centers and 9 on some.

 

PR is extreamly important when it comes to getting traffic. If you have two pages with differen PR the higher one gets above the lower one. The other side of that is having the correct key words, so if you can match the keywords searched for and your PR is greater then anyone else you get the gold ring, simple as that. The hard part is finding good key words you can get control of and multi word keywords to find the holes that are not covered by other sites.

 

lol few well wisher friends have started giving me red points claiming my post as stuid post. I was expecting few green.

Anyways my base point was not that I couild do something. No SEO guy is perfect as we all do things out of research and experiment. But I wanted to let everyone know that a site can be de indexed so easily and therefore we must take all necessary precaution and hire real good professionals to take care of the website SEO status.

I will apreciate green reputaion but please dont give red so quickly. Do let me know if you have any objection on my post and let me knwo the reason. May be you are too hurry to give a red.

So if I understand you correctly, you are saying that PR is derived from traffic and backlinks? PR is not a derivative of traffic, no wonder you're getting red rep, not green.

 

You have no idea of what you are posting.

PR is not based on traffic in any manner. It is 100% determined by incoming links.

DMOZ isn't owned by Google.

A 301 redirect doesn't "steal PR" from another site, nor does it increase your sites PR. All it does is fool the toolbar into showing false PR (it's really the PR of the site you did a 301 redirect to), and toolbar PR isn't a sites real PR anyway.

You didn't do anything to DMOZ's PR.

i agree tht PR is not as important as people think it is ..

and its not really needed to ranked high ...

u just need backlinks and u rank high ... PR just comes with it ...

Look, PR is not something valuable itself and it has never been - PR is an INDICATOR of availibility of inbound links with certain PR. However, since G started treating different links (relevant\not relevant) in different ways, if these backlinks are not relevant, then they won't actually help to rank higher - that's why people though that PR is very important in past and that's why many think that PR is nothing today. I mean if Google wouldn't count PR coming from links that are not relevant for a particular site, then such sites wouldn't have PR.

PR is still imp atleast for people who trade links.. but its true tht it has no direct effect on rankings..
