Well, I have seen all my weight drop like a rock today, so I guess it is for this PR thing. Have any of you noticed dramatic changes in your weight?

He he... don't forget you are talking to the Fryman... ;)

I already have an Amazon store with almost 20k pages indexed and growing every day... :D

Would there be a way to fall back on backlinks?

    Just a thought.

Now that you mention it my jeans DID seem just a tad more snug tonight... I attributed that to the tallboys but maybe it's all Google's fault...

I can think of one VERY important reason why the co-op weight has to take into account much more than just the no. of pages indexed in G.

It can be generalised that sites with a higher PageRank generate more website traffic. Afterall, sites with a higher PR have more inbound links to their site so definately would be generating more traffic. So how would it be fair to only take into account indexed pages. Sites which previously had a higher pagerank would be giving ALOT more to the co-op then receiving, with respect to website traffic.

Shawn is smart enough to get around this little bug. Had a short nap last night and woke up thinking that if I had to write the Co-op weighting algorithm, I might just take into account the same factors as PR does...the google API's measure of links sucks (granted), but knowing how large a site is and getting perhaps an average of its IBLs from the big three engines might be enough -- if PR is done away with, fine...CO-OP will still very much thrive [as will text-link-brokers, linkmarket, and all those guys].

I suspect it's only temporary, but if not, it will screw things royally. As it stands, the coop is operating on the number of pages indexed. The only thing that might augment weight is historical impression data that he's been collecting.. but then it just becomes another impression based text link exchange.. of which there are hundreds.

Oh well.. hope it all comes back soon :)

PS: I'd say it's just a bit of maintenance.. ie recent response to legit query:
