PR Glitch

Right now it looks like most of the DCs aren't reporting PR information -- in the event that PR data never came back, how would Shawn modify the program in terms to measuring the new weight?

I realize the PR glitch is probably temporary...but come on...it's Friday.

Why was this moved to validation? I'm just posting a hypothetical...don't want to take up the mods time reading through my schlock -- curious how the Co-Op weight would be changed in such an event...nothing more.

I wont be revalidating any of my accounts untill the toolbar PR comes back. I hope the automatic validation which happens once every 24 hours doesn't have a huge impact on the weight.

Actually not equally. The higher the PR the higher the fall while the lower PR sites will actually gain the most since the co-op works on a relative basis based on weight.

I don't agree based on previous posts by shawn, but no big deal. We can live till he fixes it if necessary.

Yeah hopefully we can live through it :D ! Just curious which posts in which Shawn talks about ad allocation not being relative to weight?

Well I'm not in the mood to play find the post to prove my statement.

He basically said any failure will play out equal the way he coded it IIRC.

Hey no problems. I did a quick scan and couldn't find anything related to PR failure & ad distribution but I probably missed something.

Be interested in Shawn has to say but it is most likely unnessasry as the PR issue is most likely just a glitch anyway.

Without PR wouldn't everyone's weight be related to how many indexed pages by Google?

This is what I thought - plus do not forget the number of ads. So, the more PR you have the more you lose compared to those sites that have a lower PR.

Maybe...or perhaps the fail-safe stops using PR for the time-being, so that the higher PR sites don't suffer unfairly [not taking it out of the equation, just keeping the current PR].

Well, I know that isn't true for 2 of my sites that went through automatic validation today. Weight dropped like a rock.

Weight is relative though. It's just one part of the equation, but now I have a feeling everything may be based on solely the amount of pages in Google's index.

So, either start getting more pages or start getting more sites with more pages. Either way, it looks like forums or AWS sites will still be the biggest weight gainers in the CO-OP regardless.

Hey, Shawn, although I really don't think that Google will stop showing PR on the websites, if they do, what would happen with the coop? Do you have a "plan B" for calculating the weight each site gets?

So all it would consider would be the amount of pages indexed?
