PR fluctuates

I have noticed that pagerank can fluctuate quite regularly for particular sites. I was wondering if others have had the experience of regular periodicity in pagerank fluctuation.

An example would be a given site having a pr 4 during the day and pr 2 in the evening .

    Any insight would be appreciated.

Shouldn't really happen apart from at PR export time. If you're basing your observations on the toolbar PR value, sometimes this varies because it is acquired from a different Data Center.

you really shouldn't be checking your PR that often since the toolbar version changes only once every 3 to 4 months

PR has recently or is still being updated at the moment ... when you see the PR fluctuate what you are probably seeing is the results from different data centers where the PR has not been updated across all of them ... give it a while I am sure it will settle down and become consistent.

That being said PR is not the be all and end all so I wouldn't be too bothered by it, just concentrate on what traffic you're receiving from where and how it converts / interacts with your site ... that's all more important than the pretty green bar.

I noticed it only when I'm teetering between two ranks. Otherwise, it stays pretty constant. I've stopped centering on my PR and Alexa so much anymore. I just concentrate on building content and making sure I keep it real. The good stuff will follow. ;)

I have a question here, how long will an expred domain name
    hold their PR?

I heard that Google will reset their PR in the next update...it's true?

Not something I have ever considered so couldn't give a definite answer but logic says that if the domain is dead for a given period (whatever that be whether it's three months, more or less) then the PR will be stripped from the domain ... I don't think you can say it will be removed on the next update because what if the domain has been inactive for a week ... there may be an ethical reason for that so stripping the PR would be unfair.
