my blog was PR7 for quite some time and 3 months it dropped to PR5 and not even to PR3! i got warning about selling/exchanging links in Google webmaster tools like 4 months ago, but I did as google asked, adding rel=nofollow tag to the links. anyway the pagerank still dropped. I even asked for reconsideration request, but nothing changed. Anyone have some experience with similar problem? Would appreacite hints how to get back to PR7.

You may have made the changes too late for them to be considered in the latest PR update. If that's the case, you may be able to expect your PR to bounce back in the next update. Another issue, could be that the sites linking to you which drove your PR up to 7 have now ceased doing so- have you checked the ensure you existing backlinks are still all live?

Don't become obsessed with unclear algorithms that you have no control over. PageRank is overrated. I can have a PR1 website receiving more traffic than a PR4 website. I have a PR0 turning a profit above a PR5. It's silly to become fixated on such a meaningless rank. Focus on just getting quality traffic and links to your site. And by quality I mean relevant. It's irrelevant to have 10,000 visitors from a Music website when your site focuses on Books. Your ROI would be better with just 100 relevant visits.

reconsideration request will not help you gain your PR back. it is only helpful if your site get manually penalized and/or removed from indexing for some reason. your PR dropped due to loss of PR backlinks coming to your site.

Maybe Google found that your blog has duplicate contents and backlinks.
Our site is PR3, there is a long way to go.:(

Firstly, you should check whether your backlinks are placed in a low quality page with spammy content,or some links are broken and don't work any more.If there is no problem,I think you may not update the page content regularly.Because of the new Google panda update, Google cares more about the fresh and original content, not only the links.Try to write more quality content on your site to get your site more user friendly. thus, i think you will get the high pr soon.

the thing is the traffic dropped too, not only pagerank. and i am not talking about same lame scammy site, its site with 350 000 visitors per day. we add new original content every day and its indexed within few minutes, but the positions in google dropped with the PR too so it results in less traffic. there was one site with which we did link exchange, it was PR5 and now its PR0 so i removed it because it was probably penalised, perhaps that was the cause. i hope it will get better soon!

I think once PR is drop its will take time to recover.
Till then you should check your backlinks and as well internal links.
content on your website is unique or not.
check all google guidelines may be this will help you.
