PR Drop On Unexpected Site

So I was reading the featured news about the giant ancient scorpion on yahoo when I glanced up at my google toolbar. Looks like Yahoo has DROPPED in PR to PR9 from PR10.

That's right. The world's most popular site* has been degraded in value by the world's second most popular site. Now if the PR update was to weed out link sellers then why on earth would Yahoo be affected?

    * = based on alexa rankings

    Alexa ranking is crap.

Traffic is NOT affected by pagerank, so it really doesn't matter to Yahoo! one bit.

I beg to differ, I sometimes go to yahoo to check rankings. That -1 in PR made me completely forget that yahoo existed until i found this post.

More than likely now that i regained knowledge of yahoo, it will be a 10 in the next update.

Behold Human Brain Link Popularity Buildin...g...k...shut up time.

p.s. Alexa is a compiled waste of time on the Internetssss

Yahoo! just ignore this kind of changes especially to its PR. PR is not important, that's the bottom line.

This isn't about your personal thoughts on pagerank. Google obvious thinks that it is important so much so that they are penalizing sites for breaking their no follow rule.

So taking that information into account Google assumes that their site is a pr 10/10 site (perfect) and for until a few days ago Yahoo shared this esteemed position in Google's eyes.

My question is what made Google change its mind? why suddenly do they no longer think of Yahoo as equals but as inferiors? Is it the China scandal and ali babba? I dont see any reason for the PR drop at all.
