    Hi there,

Recently I noticed that the PR of my website has been demoted from PR4 to PR2.

Can anyone tell me what exactly are the causes of this demotion and how to fix it.

Does the PR directly affects the ranking in Google or its a separate thing.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Regards

SERP rankings will not be affected. PR might have gone down due to some sort of penalty for selling links or blog posts.

build links, create unique content, make sure your bounce rate is low.

    rinse and repeat.

    Hi there,

I have no duplicate content page on my site out of 450 pages.

The site is one and half years old and generate good traffic from Google.

I don't involve in links exchanges or Links selling and buying.

I don't know why my PR has been demoted.

There are many factors that determine PR in the first place and usually the first thing that came to mind is that the website must have been penalized from selling links. Well true....however, this is just one of the so many factors. Things like previous your link which was place at some site has now disappear.

Another reason could be because nowadays more sites and new ones similar in your niche start to appear and are now better than yours. And in relative to them you site is now viewed as becoming less important.

    Hi there,

Recently, my site got sitelinks in Google.

It ranks well with many competitive keywords and generating good traffic.

In the Last week, it got the highest traffic in a single day.

I am sure I didn't do anything wrong which could lead my site to the demotion of PR.

This is very strange to me.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

I remember that few days back I removed couple of links pages from my website. That pages contain the links to other sites. After I removed them, may be my my links were also removed from those sites.

Can it be the real cause of this issue?

also possible that sites/pages linking to you lost value. Their links become less valuable so your page also loses value and PR.

That can be the cause but I think PR drop when there is a visible PR update. PR increase or decrease normally when there is a PR update, but if PR decrease with out a global PR update, then I think the reason is a PR penalty. This penalty normally is paid links penalty. Anyway, I think you should wait and see if your PR returns, if not, you may ask this wuestion in google webmaster groups. Some google team member will help you with this.

You most likely lost a few high PR links which caused your PR to go down.

There could be many different reasons for this sometimes a site may lose their pr at
a pr update and regain it at the next update. You should keep on building backlinks
and adding unique content to your site.
