Hello All, I have changed my server to another one. The moment I did that, my website page rank came down from 4 to 3. The decrease in my website PR is due to server shifting?
Azher Memon is right, it happens when when we promote our website in access. Do one thing stop working on this for a week and and write down its Backlinks, Index Pages, Cached, Ranking and than checked after a week and you will know the difference. Cheers
hi, it might be because you may not be doing so much promotion for your site or links etc, hence the decrease.
Mine decreased a notch too. That said, I'm pretty unconcerned about it. PR could be the most useless metric out there, as it has not affected business one bit.
Google just updated the PR, some of my sites were dropped from PR3 to 2, but some of them some how drastically increase from 1 to 3...
check your servers reputation. If they are known for hosting a lot of spam related sites and bad neighborhood sites ..they could have a lower rating.
Has your traffic from google gone down? If not, its really not a big deal unless some sort of your business relies on your PR
Priti, it is important to remember that Google Toolbar displayed PageRank, and your actual PageRank are not the same thing! Your actual PR is a value calculated by Google and used internally to help determine your rankings, this value gets updated quite often. The PR displayed by the Google Toolbar, on the other hand, is a "rough estimate" of your actual PR on a 0-10 scale, with each level increasing exponentially. In addition, this value is stored in a separate database for the toolbar display, and this database is periodically updated based on your actual PR values only a few times a year. The end result is that when you see your displayed PR "update", this can be the result of something that you did months ago, all that is happening is that the Toolbar is catching up to reality. Changed to your linkage and "actual" PageRank can impact your rankings long before that change becomes visible in the Google Toolbar.
the chances are as said above, your visual page rank is different than your actual page rank! links you have had in the past to your site, have either been devalued or vanished, this is the main reason for a decrease. If you would like your page rank to go up on the next update then id suggest going to get more high quality and good page rank links from relevant sites!
