PR confusing me.

After the PR update, I'm thoroughly confused with one site.
All IBL's that I know of point to the homepage.
Yet after the PR update, the homepage is only a PR2 :(
    Internal pages are PR5.

Can anyone come up with any reasons as to why this might be.

It's possible to create a loop where the homepage transfers almost everything away but the internal pages 'clog up' and don't pass it on hence collect the bulk of the PR.

You'll have to accurately map your site, pages and pages linking to you to find out for real what's going on.

But perhaps it's just that the storm isn't over yet...

I was almost convinced that it's somekind of penalty - my IBL's jumped from 3 to 2980 in 3 days due to the way a links were added to some sites. But some kind of loop makes sense.
PR coming into the site at the root, linking to internal pages, then the interals linking back to index.html instead of the root - something like that might well confuse the algo's.
As you say, I'll have to map the site and see what's happening.
I'm sure it'll all sort itself out at somepoint. But loosing 3 PR on the homepage completely screws the co-op weight.
That site should be giving me somewhere iro 7K weight but instead I'm getting just short of 3K from it :(

There is nothing like Google penality as long as your site is visible in their index.

I sense that improper use of internal linking has caused the problem. Please do not reply on increasing number of pages only as there are many department of SEO to focus upon

My site had similar issues after the prior update to this one. All my internal pages were PR 4 and my index was PR 3. This update reversed, and now my index is PR 4 and internal pages are PR 3.
I think you are right about the /index.html statement. I originally had my pages linking to my homepage with /index.html. After that update I changed the links to point back to my root instead.
