You could provide your comments on blog posts in the sites that is closely related to your own website niche. It will actually hurt your PR if your backlink traffic comes from a website not associated with your niche. I suggest provide quality comment (no spamming) on at least 5 related blogs per day....

I think a link is a link regardless so any back link will help, if you want to help with SERP than use anchor text
