How is page rank in relation to search positioning for certain keywords. I know for sure that for certain keywords one of my sites actually gets the 1-3 positions on google search. It had PR0 (now has PR1) when this happened. Those keywords are not that "special" and i am sure other higher PR'ated sites with similar content focused on some of those keywords. The only explanation is the fact that the content associated with those keywords is much "bigger" on my site then that of my competitors. So, how important is the PR of a site in relation to the search position for certain keywords. My impression is that it has a secondary role at best. And PR = backlinks only ? Something tells me it's not only that.
PR doesn't have any direct co-relation with SERP ranking. you will find lot of PR0 sites outranking PR3+ sites for a given keyword
sultanofseo is right I think a few years ago when pr was more important it may have played a role in the placement of a site in the serps but that's no longer the case.
agree with sultanofseo's comment (based on fact). Look like Google PR now just useful for domains and links trading (i think). SERP is on another side related to the effort to have more and more visitors, make our site easy to reach / visible when someone search based on certain keyword. several times check to proof it using Web Diagnostic For WebMaster and found that many sites with higher PR lower in SERP than othe with lower PR in certain primary keyword. This fact make me create another tool just for domain trader who just care with domain's PR on Web Diagnostic For Domain Trader
PR is just an indicator of link popularity, nothing else. It is perfectly normal to see no correlation at all between PR and search results. Really, the only useful thing about PR I've noticed is that higher PR means bigger bucks in links sales. Can't argue with that!
1. PR is useful. 2. That doesn't mean google with PR10 will rank for keyword 'digitalpoint'. 3. When a low PR site is outranking higher PR ones, try to see if the high PR sites are even optimizing for that keyword and have backlinks with that keyword in anchor text.
You are wrong because when two sites has the same number of back links and has the exact keyword. The site which has a high pr will be getting a better position.
Looks like you forgot to state your sources there. Care to point out a case study you made? Hard to believe anyone without hard evidence, you see. I bet I can show you more websites that are ranked better with low PR without much work. And yes, that's a challenge.
here is the link from google to read. http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html It says clearly that higher pr sites are more likely to rank higher. PR 0 site ranking higher than pr3 , its because the pr3 site has those keywords as secondary and not main keywords. You can find that out easily by doing the keyword concentration on the homepage.
Its true as per google's policy and you can yourself research on it by taking one keyword and see serp and compare top 25 sites pr, baclink, age, most important quality of baclink from old, trusted relevant sites.
