For new domains I've been observing that no matter how good you do SEO and link building the PR doesn't show up till domain have achieved a certain age. Not to sure if Google includes domain age in PR? I've made few of my websites in top 10 in just 1 month but even after 3 months it is still PR0. Also in the past I've observed the same. And with my experience I would say it takes about 3-6 months for Google to show up something in green bar? Any thoughts on it?
Forget about the little green bar and concentrate on ranking you're site and pulling in qualified leads. PR will come naturally in the end if you're link building is good enough. I don't think domain age has an effect on PR at all, it's the quality of the inbound links that have the major impact. Why is everyone still hung up on PR? So very sad, KP
Me and hanging on PR absolutely no or else I should not call myself SEO guru But I can't change mind of billions of others who hang on PR for various purpose. Examples could be Client saying you got no PR and talking about SEO? Business directories/Directories refusing to list stating we don't PR0 .. .. Well I'm inclined to say that yes age does matter to PR based on my past experience.
Well I disagree totally with you and anyone else who uses the term SEO "Guru" or "Expert". If clients ask about PR then is because they have read so much bullshit on the web saying it "matters". Only only because a directory say's they don't link to a site because they have a PR 0 obviously know nothing. I would link to a PR 0 site, why? very simple, on the next update that site could be a PR 6 (if I was a moron to believe PR actually stands for anything). So no, age doesn't matter about PR. I have domains that are 12 years old and don't have PR because I simply have not done anything with them. KP
I see your point. Yes it is true if you do nothing for link building you get no where. Here is my point.. I've done link building say 200 good quality incoming links. I completed this task in one month. Now I stopped link building I think 200 good quality is enough for me as I'm already in top 10 for my main keyword. Now green bar doesn't slide. After 6 months I'm sure it will slide to at least PR2 (worst case). I've observed above for at least 6 websites with similar link building tactics. Based on above fact I have to assume that age is a factor. In all of above cases for initial 2-6 months PR was 0 then it started moving from ~6th months and went to 2, then 3 and in some cases to 4 as time progressed. I'm not arguing with PR matters or not, but trying to understand if age is a factor in sliding green bar or not? My observations as described above show yes it is a factor.
"Not to sure if Google includes domain age in PR?" Not sure but I think Google do consider domain age.
You can never have enough link building. Link building is an on-going process for as long as you own the site, especially if you intend on/or improving you're rankings. When you say "good quality" links, do you base than on the linking sites PR or because they are related to your industry in some way or another? 50 links from authority sites, or sites within your sector are far more valuble than 100 links from random sites because of the PR factor. The age factor thing I think depends on what niche and how strong it is. I have seen sites jump from PR 2, to 6 in one update. Angilina - Yes Google do consider domain age because the older the domain the more aggressive you can be with the link building apposed to a new domain that will more than likely be "sandboxed". Older domains have the search engines trust. KP
There is no official news from Google on PR AGE. Many SEO's have preserved that AGE actually matter, if this way not the case. It would courage spam websites and scam and increase scamming.
So it took 3 months of hard work and I can now see the green bar straight to PR3 That was long waiting though but better late than never
By grace of God.. err Google Well the thing is you keep doing and it happens by itself at some point of time. You are PR3 the next jump will again take some time. As per my observation it is about 3/4 ish months of time for each leap.
Maybe clients read Google's official take on pagerank? Did you? Source: http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html PR is not everything, but to call it BS ignores the importance Google places on it...
thanks for sharing info. hard to digest the numbers though, 500 million variables? and 2 billion.... China's population? Or they counting stars in Milky way
yeah, forget the PR... I find one domain with about one month now is PR 5 and had no backlinks.. Im crazy.. I worked so hard to PR5 how can him gain it so easy...
Yes, Google like "aged" website for listing their SE. For avoiding SPAM. You register new Domain Name - 3 to 5 years.
