    Hey,

I was wondering about, if e.g. a PR3 domain drops, and I buy it imedially after, would the PR then be affected?

if the domain completely dropped, the answer is yes, the domain will most likely lose PR. If you pick up a domain in auction, and it is transferred to you (no real drop), then you have a fighting chance.

Honestly it is easier to just get a good domain, that is relative to your niche, and build the PR/ranks yourself.

You'd need to take a look at the backlinks your domain has. Will you lose these once the link owners know that the links are broken (or that the content has changed)??

When a domain drops, Google will no longer count any of its previous backlinks. For example, lambdaphixi.net is a new PR 5 directory. Check its backlinks and Yahoo shows 33 backlinks all with PR 0. Google shows 2 backlinks. The backlinks for this domain have essentially been reset, so the PR will most likely drop without the owner busting butt to get some backlinks.

So Google does check whois information while crawling the site?

If I buy the domain the day after the domain dropped, I don't think Google would crawl it (GoogleBot maybe makes a visit every 5th day or something).

and Google spider visiting a website depends on the site, it can visit it after minutes also. Depends on how often the content is updated on a website , how popular is the website etc etc. Websites use "ping" to tell Google that the content is updated on the website and it should be crawled. Am i right guys? (i am new to this) :D.

Many scammers lurk in the link sales forum here with similar. Dropped domains they've picked up and set up sites in high paying niches. Avoid them at all costs. Sure they still show toolbar PR but they are worthless. You can usually tell them a mile away if you are buying links, the pm's come in broken English saying they have a finance/health/web hosting/insert high paying niche here site, buylizardsintexas.com (for example).
