Content does not contribute to PR
Relevance does not contribute to PR
Traffic does not contribute to PR

Your PageRank is determined by the inbound links pointing to your page.

From what I hear, the only real use of PR is to exchange or sell links ;)

High PR doesnt necessasily mean your site will be higher in SERPs..I have PR3 pages on first page of google and PR6 pages which are in 50th page..

I agree with Herende, I've noticed that google bombing does work sometimes but not as effectively lately. You can have a PR2 site on the front page for a _popular_ keyword if you do it well, where as you have a PR6 on the last few pages of the SERPs.

    Does this help ? -

This chart explains what do you need to get how many page rank points.
I hope this makes it easier to understand.

And here the article from Compar's site, which explains all about Google PR.

Content did not contribute to PR
Relevance did not contribute to PR
Traffic did not contribute to PR

It is plausible that Google will encorporate these factors in their PR at some stage, especially traffic. They are trying to get the G Toolbar on every computer they can get their hands on. The Google Toolbar records traffic stats etc and I am sure they have the technical know how to record who visits which site. They should also be able to record which sites are being save to favourites more often than others, which ones receive a higher number of pageviews and which ones receive more repeat visitors. All these factors could then be combined with the "100+ other factors" that Google uses to form a very strong user-behaviour-based search algorithm. They might never let these factors affect the visible Google PR, but they will (unless they already have) use these factors for their algorithm sooner or later.

Please note that although this is an excellent chart, you may consider to give it a factor of *1.2% as it's a 2 years old chart.

You're confusing PageRank with SEPRs ;)

While I am no expert in PR but from personal experance I can tell you that it is very benificial to Page Rank to purchase a couple PR 7 or even better PR 8 or higher links to your site. If you do this along with a normal link campaign. (Directories, Link Exchanges, 3 Ways, 1 Ways ect) you will achieve a PR 7.
