Google should operate with a little more care and responsibility. They are in an extremely trusted position, as being the most powerful search engine, but with that power comes extreme responsibility.

They should err on the side of operating with impeccable integrity. This doesn't look very good, when it appears that you can buy advantages from what should be an impartial search engine.

If it doesn't pass page rank then I don't see what the point is. I doubt you would get much traffic from this, not $2,000 worth of traffic lol. I'd like to know why people are buying these links

I assume that the presents of this link does offer some benefit for the site. Do you think G is using some kind of special filer to prevent any kind of benefits from being passed?

I'm simply saying that Google should set the example. They want everyone else to adhere to certain guidelines which it appears they are not.

BTW, this tool isn't showing PR and hasn't for sometime...just the presents of the backlinks.

I don't see this as nothing special really. I mean the novelty of having a link from Google is excellent, but for almost $2000, like people have said, it isn't worth $2000 for traffic or a PR basis. I would say this is only good for the investment it is really worth - the Google mini.

The link is just a way of getting that extra tiny bit of traffic (for instance, I bet you lot are checking a few of those links) and a link from Google, that is it.

I would say that anyone buying from Google for PR or traffic is a fool (unless it's AdWords and that's a different matter :p). Then again, who has $2000 to sling around?

I would be very surprised if these links did pass the PR juice, and even if it does for some reason there are a lot of links on those pages that the PR has to get passed around to. Really not worth it in my opinion. However you will be shocked at companies that would spend the $2k for the link and a tax write off.

Web hosting provider Blue Sky Hosting (bluesky.co.uk) announced that it provided hosting and helped deploy Google's (google.com) Mini search appliance.

Google recommends Blue Sky as host for Google Mini
    1st Jan 07

Blue Sky's Google Mini hosting services provide customers Google-quality search results without the need to purchase their own Google Mini. Although Google Mini search appliances are currently only available in a limited number of countries worldwide, Blue Sky's hosted service is available to customers based anywhere worldwide. Google recommends Blue Sky's hosted solution to its international customers.

    Hope that helps ;)

But thats not to say other search engines won't hold weight in the links... Lets hope Yahoo and other search engines are quick to penalize G for this paid link farm.

Yahoo and Google wouldn't dare force results for each other, it would spark some mad SE war. Plus Yahoo and Google both advertise using each others PPC advertising.

Oh, and most companies people assume are ememies - aren't usually. Like I got a webpage on a site either on Apple's and Microsoft's website saying, "We get on better than you all think!". My point in this is, they probably do business in some form with each other, I almost guarentee it.
