Okay, so I frequently check the site checkpagerank.net to see how many links my site, http://www.Lucidly.com has. Anyways, I checked it today and to my surprise my site had a PR 5??? It surprised the hell out of me because I spent less than $200 on marketing since I started my site (BTW I started my site in December). Anyways, as you can clearly see at this url: http://www.checkpagerank.net/index.php?name=lucidly.com&links=1 Anyways, how the heck does something like this happen, I wasn't even expecting a page rank 1?!?! What I do need help with though, is how do I do a 301 redirect or whatever needs to be done so both "lucidly.com" and "www.lucidly.com" are PR 5 after the next update. Only currently "www.lucidly.com" is a PR 5.
Looking at your backlinks I can't see how you got a PR 5. This happened to me once where a new site got a PR7 within a few months when it clearly didn't deserve it. It was corrected downward on the next update. I'm not saying your site doesn't deserve a PR5 though, just sharing my experience If your using ASP or ASP.NET I can tell you how to 301, otherwise I can't help you there.
Hey, I was stunned to see I had any kind of page rank at all, anyways, could you pm me the process on how to do a 301 redirect so both lucidly.com and www.lucidly.com will have the same page rank at next update? I am using ASP.
This is old and assumes a lot of things but I'm pretty sure it will work for your case. Include this at the start of every page: <%@ Language=VBScript %> <% if (len(Request.ServerVariables("SERVER_NAME")) > 3) AND (left(Request.ServerVariables("SERVER_NAME"), 4) <> "www.") Then Response.Status="301 Moved Permanently" Response.AddHeader "Location", "http://www." & Request.ServerVariables("SERVER_NAME") & Request.ServerVariables("SCRIPT_NAME") End If %> Code (markup):
Why not just add this to your htaccess file? RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^lucidly.com [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.lucidly.com/$1 [L,R=301]
I got PR4 on two sites doing nothing to build links other than write content. I got links back from people who liked my content. So, you should not be surprised that you got PR5 and if you keep it honest, your PR will stick.
I have some sites with pr 5 that have nothing on them but a coming soon page. Then I have some sites that I think have outstanding content on them that are only ranked pr 1 or pr 2. I have some sites that are in the first three listings for their keywords on Google but only have pr 1, 2, 3 or 4 ranks on them. In all these cases there are sites with pr 5 and pr 6 ranks that are listed below my sites. Frankly I have no idea how Google does page rank and I am not sure it matters any more. And no, I will not name sites as I prefer things stay the way they are now. Page rank may not matter but why tempt fate?
ur domains is 4+years old that one of the reason use this for 301 RewriteEngine On Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^site\.com [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.site.com/$1 [L,R=301] Code (markup): place that in your .htacess file that should work.
Will that redirect lucidly.com to www.lucidly.com as well? For example if you enter "lucidly.com" in the address bar will it go to www.lucidly.com? That is if I put that in the .htaccess file.
it redirects lucidly.com to http://www.lucidly.com and www.lucidly.com to http://www.lucidly.com dose it all for you my man
Not surprised by the pr...You got a lot of good content from what I can see. Also, I think your domain name has something to do with the high pr. It's not always about backlinks that determine your pagerank. Pagerank is more complicated than we all might assume. You can market your site for years and still not break pr4. It's a combination of factors.
