What is the site about?

Dogs. Dog stories and dog related information + a directory

The site pretty much runs itself. The directory requires some attention every once in a while to approve listings or to remove SPAM postings, but nothing serious here. The site has 2 backends. One for the directory (eSyndiCat Directory Software) and a custom backend for the article side of the house. This is a custom script, but not coded by myself. I bought the site back in October, but never found the time to take it to the next level in regards to monetization or to give it the attention to add the features I had initially in mind.

My initial plan was to create some sort of a dog lovers club to sell tranining guides and other dog related digital goods (Clickbank as an example) and other affiliate products (including using the site as PPC landing page domain). Other features planned were a forum once the site would gain momentum in regards to traffic. And last but not least - you might have heard about the "rainbow bridge" when pets go to heaven. When seeing the domain name initially this came to my mind as an extra area for this site. Just have been too busy to work on the site and hate to have it just sit around.

Stats & Data

Since I took over the site the PR went from a 4 to a Google PR5. I got the site listed in DMOZ L(screenshot) as well as I did some SEO promotion/link building (therefore PR5 now). When I took over the site it had 1454 unique visitors (October 2006). March 2007 showed 2367 unique visitors. April so far is a tick lower than March, but that is mainly due to Spring Break and Easter Holiday drop-off in traffic as people have other things on their mind. Traffic comes from search engines and direct links to the site. The last time I checked Google has over 1,000 pages indexed (1090). Yahoo is a little higher when I checked (1156).

Revenue

As mentioned before I have not found the time to really monetize the site. Therefore there is currently on minimum revenue (Google Adsense). Adsense Screenshot 1 | Screenshot 2 for March 2007 below. Revenue has been stable though.

Expenses / Cost to run the site

None, except hosting. The site pulled 230 MB bandwidth in March (highest so far).

Price

My price is not based on revenue, so please don't pull any stunts by offering 10 times monthly income or complain that I am asking for too much in your opinion. That is not how this site should be valued and if that is what you are looking for, please stay away from filling this thread with your postings. The site has a very solid age (domain registered 2005) and build up trust (PR5, DMOZ listed, 1000+ pages indexed). It is well established and with the right time commitment this site can be turned into a nice money-maker. The license for the directory is included. If it cannot be transferred (just in case esyndicat does not allow it) you'll receive a brand new license at my expense ($49.00 value). I'll reserve the right not to sell if I feel not confident with the highest bidder (e.g. zero iTrader / not confirmed PayPal account / etc) or if I feel I am not getting my money's worth. I will help moving the site as good as I can, but recommend you pick a cpanel host and have your webhost pull the site over with the WHM move feature. The site can stay on my server for about 7 days after the purchase.

Nice unique site. The only problem I have is that the text is a little unreadable because all the text seems to be in one or two very long paragraphs. Will you sort this out prior to selling? Is the site using content managemnet system?

 

The site is being sold "as is". I would assume you could easily adjust design and layout by changing the width of the design a little bit. Shouldn't be too hard, but I am not really a designer. I have been happy with the design though.

It's not really a CMS system, but has an admin backend. Screenshot. as stated before the site is build to accept user submissions of stories and reports.
