PR 4 With Only 1 Backlink

This website has been around for about 1 year. I used to work for this dealer and we were giving this for free by GM.

Now I'll be the first to say that PR is practically meaningless but how could this site possibly obtain a PR4?

A few months back I saw that it had a pagerank of 4 and I assumed it was a fluke. Well, after this latest toolbar update it's still a 4, with only 1 backlink from Yahoo Local.

No Yahoo directory, No DMOZ, etc...

When the site was launched I simply bought a keyword domain for 10 years and that was it. We had 2 other websites so we never put anything into this one.

Can anybody explain their theory on this? It is strange. the website:

Yea I can see why your site has a PR4..

It has 5 links to it from goodwrench a PR7 website.

You can use google webmaster tools to monitor your site and see more of backlinks there.

 

It's not my site, I don't work for them anymore. Where are the links from goodwrench? I couldn't see them. Anyway, case closed!

Can't find any links to that site exept fron Yahoo local, but if it's got 5 links from "goodwrench", actually a PR 5 site with lots of PR 5 pages - just 3-4 links on PR 5 pages will give you a PR 4 (I am not talking about a PR 5 domain/main page, it's about PR 5 pages where your link appears and of course it has to be do follow)

 

Unique content is not important for Google PR, only backlinks.

I have hundreds of back links on my 10 year old site and was just dropped from 4PR to 3PR. That bites for me!

Yeah sometimes it's really hard to predict how it got so nice pr. I too have a health blog which I created a month back. I have written only 2 articles and have taken link from 2 pr 1 site. Wow I got pr 1 in this current pr update. I was happy I got. I think Google did a very lenient updating of pr this time.

A thousand poor backlinks won't do as much good as one PR7 backlink. I wish I had it!!

 

Yeah well said. High pr is thousand or millions times equal to the low pr. So its worth getting a link from high pr website or blog.
