PR 4 with no inbound links and no SEO effort

Let's see if any of you can help me figure this one out.

The following page: http://dominios.net/mizar/html/vcl1e.htm has a PR of 4 (all the pages in the domain) but it does not have any inbound links. I know very well the owner of the page & he has never done any SEO on it and does not even know what SEO is. Where could this PR of 4 come from? Any ideas or explanations? Thanks.

You have a backlink fron from www.buddydog.org which shows a PR6. The link juice of this site was passed to your site that's why you have a PR4.

Thanks Bomberman. I have seen the link you mention. I had checked only Google links & this link is not reported by Google. However, this link is together with other 150 links. Do you think this would be enough to raise PR of that page from 0 to 4. It sounds too good to be true.

I see anywhere from 920-2000 backlinks to that domain/page and a PR of 5. Certainly, enough in-bound links would cause a nice jump in PR if they are highly relevant and it looks like that Mizar Buttons page is a pretty tight niche.

Just to clarify this matter, the page http://dominios.net is the company were the site is hosted. There are several other domains under the same domain. I have checked some of the other sites hosted there and they have all kinds of PR's, so the PR should come from somewhere else. There is no link linking dominios.net to the specific url: http://dominios.net/mizar/html/vcl1e.htm. The site is just under a directory.

Wooops.. Yes, sorry, that was for the full domain.

I see conflicting numbers for the full URL, too. I wonder if there were a decent # of backlinks that no longer exist?

Safe to say that hosting on a domain that's been around since 96 is a good thing though :)

Pagerank is not real accurate, i had a domain go from PR3 to a PR5 a few weeks ago and its got virtually no backlinks. Also in April most of my sites got higher subpages then the home despite virtually no links to them.

Yes PR is a very strange thing. This domain has never had any backlinks other than the ones it may show now (One PR6 link reported only by Yahoo in a page together with other 150-200 links). My friend was asking me how he can index it into google, since he does not know anything about SEO. When I checked it I asked him how he got a page rank of 4. His answer to me was... What is Page Rank?
