My boss's website where she sells mosaic tiles has a PR of 4 and her domain was created in 2007. Her site was doing really well for certain keywords like glass mosaic tile and related keywords. She only had like 30 or 40 unique backlinks awhile back. Somehow, one of her website programmers put backlinks to her main site pointing from a sister site. I did a backlink check on her main site and there were thousands of backlinks pointing from her sister site. She took down the sister site but her main website lost its rankings for certain keywords and she is not making any business. What can she do for google to realize that those backlinks are no longer active? I know she got penalized for having too many backlinks from one source and google probably saw that as spammy backlinks. But, now I am trying to save her site and bring it back to search engines. I told her it may take awhile for google to realize those spammy links are no longer active and told her to build quality and variety backlinks. But, since her sister site was taking down, those spammy backlinks are still showing up.
If the site is penalized, go to webmaster tools and ask for a reconsideration, the people from google will tell you as well why is penalized and if you have changed the mistakes you will get your positions back.
sandbox is usually for newer sites. google holds them in sandbox till it gathers enough data on how to and where to rank them. this doesn;t apply to old and established sites. your boss's site most likely got penalized for unnatural link profile. having too many links form one site is not natural. google knows what sitewide link is and warned against that long time ago. since penguin update is also known as web spam update, google considered the link profile as spammy and penalized the site by lowering the ranking. even though the sister site was taken down, links are still there as google doesn;t update the backlinks on a real time basis. it might take a month or even more before google updates those links. in order to brings the site back on ranking, you need to analyze the data on webmaster tool account to see if there is any warning, analyze the link profile to make sure you are not getting anymore links from bad neighborhood, etc. once these issues are taken care of, you will need to put together a 100% white hat link building campaign and keep building links on a regular basis. it will take some time before the site starts to climb up in ranking but thats the only course of action
Better is stop pall off page tech, put concentration on on page and content... update content daily, submit xml sitemap....just do it upto 2 months in this time not back will go for other tech
I have a question hear. If i have a account in a forum i am senior member of forum and more then 2000 post. I put my website in my signature link. There my every post give me a back link and all the back link are from same source. Are my website will be penalized.
Finding out exactly why the site is penalize through webmaster tools will ensure you don’t make the same mistakes again. Once the issues are sorted, the site will eventually bounce back –with time.
i am agree with this, there is no change to get in sandbox instead if one has not make a big change over the website,
It's tough to regain the previous position after being penalized by just informing google. Better you start working from the begining on that site for quality backlinks. May be it's time consuming but safe.
