This afternoon I do some link buiding work to my new site, and it has no pr even at the homepage. But I find this page has a pr4,it appears after I do some link exchange work. But the hompage has not change.I use firefox's searchstatus to check pr.What's the problem?
Try doing a force refresh on your browser (Ctrl + F5), it clears your current cache and caches the entire website again, if it still shows PR4 and you're still not convinced, try installing a Google Toolbar on your firefox. The said toolbar shows your official pr in Google. You can also try online checkers just to see if it is the real thing. On a side note, there are other instances where inner pages get PR first before the homepage.
I wonder how you got a PR 4 immediately after some link building... particularly since there was no major PR update since last month or two? Regards, RightMan
If you have made backlinks for an inner page of your website and pagerank of this page is improved, Its totally normal. If you want to improve pagerank of your home page, you should make backlinks for home page of your website.
It is unlikely your website got PR4 at all. I would recommend you checking via external sources such as Checkpageranking.com and see if your PR is still 4 or not.
Did you try other PR sites. Try Googleing for some other page rank checkers http://lmgtfy.com?q=Page+Rank+Checker
Install google toolbar or try firefox addon SEOQUAKE and then see it. also you can try many live pr check out there.
i was having the same problem with google toolbar plugin with firefox.. i installed quick search status... it works like charm.. and also.. it shows alexa rank of specific page.. you can refresh toolbar without refreshing the whole page..! Regards, Amaris Cole
Try out using SEO Quake or Alexa Ranking Tool these both tool supports the function of Google Algorithm that display precise number of PR of each page
