Okay, this is my first site that I'm selling, so I'll try to follow protocol, but if I mess up, please have some tolerance.

I'm ending this auction in just under a week, say Midnight Sunday September 23, 2007 - EST.

Reason for selling -- too many things going and the site has been completely neglected since May? This site is currently generating link requests and I haven't even been able to find the time to fill them. It is not generating much income. Once in a while an Amazon affiliate sale, a dollar here or there from Adsense. For traffic, I think it's 200 - 300 unique visitors a month -- the line which says that in Webalizer in Webstat Control Panel, says:
Total Unique User Agents 275 (as an example, all were in 200 - 300 range)
Alexa: Traffic Rank for careerchangewanted.com: 8,590,888

The content -- almost all of it is from free article websites with a bit of my own commentary tossed in here and there. The articles are set up where there is a summary page with a first paragraph and then a "Read Full Article" link.

The website was just coded by hand -- no database or fancy scripts (whether you consider that good or bad). Oh, I did use a free version of the Associate-O-Matic Amazon affiliate webstore (see the book link) because someone told me it improved their search engine rankings, however ironically about a month later I had to disable that directory for spiders because my webhosting company said it was periodically (when the spider was crawling those pages) killing performance on the shared host and they were going to force me to buy a dedicated hosting package and no way was it earning enough for that.

I would keep the cartoon on the home page. Someone in MySpace or Facebook I don't remember which, must have a link to that cartoon because I get a bunch of referrals from it.

I will assist with FTP and Domain is paid only till October 2007.

Any links sold? Does the buyer has to keep any links permanent?

 

No, there are not any links sold from this website. No permanent links that the owner would be obligated to keep for any specified period of time.

There was/is a link exchange program that is described and executed on the Resources page. As I mentionned, I think I last updated the site in May, so at least anyone on that page got added before that date and has received some link value. I've seen link requests generated from my form on that page in the last few months and haven't been able to find time to respond to them. I guess if the new owner wants to continue with that page, I'll give him/her those emails. If the new owner does not want to continue with that page, I'll try to do people the courtesy of sending a short reply saying the site has a new owner and the reciprocal link policy has changed.

You'll see some of my affiliate links on the site, which I assume the new owner would want to change, and they may point you to some decent affiliate programs, such as ChangingCourse.com has some valuable products and one of the Resume Writing Services and Monster.com -- in case you don't know the affiliate programs in that niche.

A few of the inbound links to that site were purchased -- I think the link on BradFallon.com main page is paid until December 2007? And I think I bought a couple minor links in directories that are either permanent or would last until sometime in early 2008. But a lot of the inbound links are ones from me commenting on blogs. And, I do write intelligent posts when linking to my websites, so those will hang around and hopefully if anyone is reading the comment I wrote, it will reflect favorably on the site.

Good luck to the lucky buyer. I'm sure there are many bidding that have the time, know-how and energy to turn a nice profit on this site. So it should be a win-win, cause for me it's just been a To-Do that I'm not getting to.
