PR 3 with "www" and PR 0 without "www"

    Hi,

    Could some body help me...
I've just checked my domain name, and it shows different page rank. If I put prefix "www" it shows PR 3 and if I leave the "www" it shows PR 0.

    Is it good?
How do I make them both PR 3?

    Thanks for your suggestion...

You could 301 redirect the non www to the www using .htaccess

If you submitted your domain name with the 'www' to search engines, directories and others are linking back based on that version of your URL, you will most likely get PR for that.

If the non-www version is not listed anywhere or in few places then it is possible that you will not PR for it.

PR depends very much on backlinks.

The majority of backlinks are going to your "www" domain, whereas you don't have many backlinks to the non-www one

Each subdomain and each page has it's own PR
Don't try to increase all of them
    Stick with one and follow

    No
www. is just a subdomain that is internationally accepted as world wide web and used as the "default" subdomain nothing more
Your domain name is your : myname.com

Although 'www' is sort of a subdomain but it is like domnom said is internationally accepted as world wide web. People would type in 'www' as part of the URL without even thinking about it.

As far as the site is concerned, all 'www' would be redirect to the same site content as the non-www version.

So if your 'www' gets the PR then you have nothing to worry about. If only your non-www domain gets PR and the 'www' one does not then I would start to worry.

Just a clarification, we're talking for PageRank which is valid to..... Google.... which is......a search engine
So we're talking if the www. or the non www. version will put your link to the engine and bring you visitors
Well ANYTHING will do. I will not worry if the ooo.mydomain.com or whatever.mydomain.com get's the PR as long as i get the traffic

The issue here is that Google saw a popularity to your www. (because obviously you promote it that way) continue with this and support it

Just to clarify.... sometimes i get backlinks to www version sometimes to non www version. Lets say 50%/50%. So does it mean i wont get as good PR as if i would link all 100% to non www version?

Well, it would be best to work on the variant which has the PR and forget about the one without because in the end, all points to the same site anyways.

If you do 50%/50% then you may have like PR3 for each but if you concentrate on only one variant then it may be possible to get like PR4 or PR5 for that variant. Since more people favors the www version then just work on that one.

In the end what matters is getting the traffic anyway around.

To answer your initial question which hasn't been answered yet... :

Put this in you .htaccess file :

    RewriteEngine On

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^yourdomain.com [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/$1 [L,R=301]
    Code (markup):
This will 301 redirect the non-www version to the www one.
All the "links juice" will be redirected to the www version.

This is the best option from a SEO standpoint.

If I do the same using PHP, should I have the script in every page or just the home page?
