PR 0, High Ranking Competitive Keywords, Old URL, Good Website, What is wrong?

Hello. This will be my first thread on this forum. I have a question that has puzzled me for some time that I cannot answer, and neither can 3 other SEO companies. Why is our PR 0! The url is www.synergyremodel.com. We have tons of link, traffic and also we are ranked very high for many competitive keywords such as "finished basements" on Google and "room addition" on Yahoo. The page rank has always been zero for this domain since in the past we had it redirected to www.synergybasements.com (which had a PR3) but then we closed the old site (www.synergybasements.com), got a new one (www.synergyremodel.com) and reversed the redirects (for services offering purposes, wanted to get our of specific niche of basements) our PR went to 0 on both sites.

The SEO company told me this:
    "
The PR issue initially we thought is because of the old domain which was not properly redirected but now since it is fixed properly and the PR is still not back we did some research and could zero-in on another possible reason for it.

While doing the server header check for the domain, www.synergyremodel.com, we find the use of Content Location which is set as the cannonical URL of the domain i.e., http://www.synergyremodel.com/index.html. Can you please either remove the content location or set it a http://www.synergyremodel.com/?

    #2 Server Response: http://www.synergyremodel.com/
HTTP Status Code: HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Content-Length: 31120
    Content-Type: text/html
    Content-Location: http://www.synergyremodel.com/index.html

This is the only possible reason for the PR still not showing and I think taking care of this issue should solve this problem
    "
Other SEO companies told me this is not likely.

I am not sure if this will fix the problem or maybe there are other reasons for this. Please let me know what you think?

It doesn't have "tons" of links. If you want the PR to go up you need to add more. What is a higher PR going to bring you anyway? You already said it ranks high for good keywords. What more can you ask for!

It may not have "tons" of links by your standards, but its more than enough to get a PR1 PR2. The problem that I am facing is that I believe I am getting penalized for something, and I am not sure what that something is.

You might try tweaking the source code a bit, it does not pass markup validation. Also, I noticed that the site is using a table layout - just out of curiosity why did you choose tables instead of divs?

From what I see, google is showing 1 link. Yahoo shows more, but they seem to be all from 4 different sites, including your site.
