They may seem like a dumb question to some people. In my opinion you need to be doing both PPC and organic search equally as big and well. Most affiliates I have met in my career and on DP are either focused on PPC or organic traffic but usually not both. In my opinion, the best senario is to start generating traffic with organic strategies and then when you start seeing some conversion, they start some light ppc campaigns to see if you can acheive a good ROI. If that works for you then go nuts! What do you all think?
Organic search engine traffic is better but not everyone is so lucky. As of now I get about half my traffic from search engines and other site referrals and the other half from PPC advertising.
micksss, I agree...organic takes alot of work ie writing, acquiring inbound links...PPC can be hard to make work but a gold mine if you are smarter than the rest!
A smart combination of both. PPC can be used to fill in gaps where SEO is not working. PPC is also useful because you can immediately change your ad. If your shoes are 20% off this week or you have free shipping today only, you can easily advertise that using your PPC ads. And messaging like that is enticing to users.
Yes I have had excellent luck when I post a new coupon or special deal from a particular merchant. That tends to increasethe conversion rate from the PPC campaign. This can also work with organic search if people are specifically looking for a new coupon or special promotion by name and you have it posted on your site you can get ranked for that and get the traffic for those searchers...
