    Is it adwords?

To get it listed as paid, you need to either link your adwords and analytics profiles (http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55507) or do a URL tagging . First option is preferred as you can also get cost data on to your analytics account.

If it's any other PPC network, use Google's URL builder and use URL tagging for analytics. Use medium as cpc to get it treated as paid traffic.

in short, all search engine traffic is classified as non-paid (aka, organic or natural search) traffic unless campaigns are specifically tagged to show up as paid.
