Hello everyone ive recently been offered a PPC search engine that has just been designed and ready for promotion. The price is $350. My question is do you think this would be a wise investment? Or is the web too flooded with these already that i wouldnt be able to make back my money? Im seriously considering buying it but wanted to see what your thoughts on this were. Looking forward to hearing your replys, slinky.
I think it's hard to tell if it's gonna make good money but if you can get XML feed from a major ppc company where they offer high bids for quality traffic , then you passed the half way second you need publishers which mostly will be other PPC search engines owners use your feed in their engines and bring you traffic but usually the Major PPC companies which offer private feed only look for quality clicks so you have to make sure all click that coming from your publishers are real otherwise use public feed by the way what's your site script (SmartPPC or ProSearch) or custom one ?
I agree with A.G. in that quality feeds and quality traffic are the way to do well with your new search engine. I have seen lots of search engines do well by paying attention to quality on both sides of the equation. If you need a feed to get started, Thundertext offers a blended feed from a variety of networks. Feel free to get in touch and I will see if I can be of any help. Best of luck, Stas
Such a difficult site model to get off the ground. You can go down the route of using feeds (from large PPC engines as mentioned) or try to develop it yourself (so people listing their own sites and eventually introducing a paid model (for advertisers and publishers) but it would be an extremely difficult model to develop. You should also consider the script that the site has and what type of fraud measures that it has in place (for $350, you cannot expect very much). I hope this helps you in your decision.
