Is the CTR data measured across campaigns through out the whole account or it it mainly done by the keywords and ad group? Say I have one campaign thats performing lower then another campaign would that campaign have an effect on the other campaign?
Yes, google calculates keywords CTR, add group CTR, campaign CTR and general CTR. Pause or delete all keywords and ad groups with 0...
so that can be a tricky process... If I have 25 campaigns I have to make sure there running at there fullest I have multiple affiliate offers along with our company site..
CTR is not a measurement of success, QS is. It all depends on average QS of all adgroups within the campaigns. Please understand that a 8% CTR can be considered bad if all others are 9%+ and 0.5% CTR could be the greatest CTR if all others are 0.4% and less CTR is based on keywords and competitor averages. You cannot just distinguish good and bad campaigns by average CTR, only by average QS. So you might have this 2 campaigns 100 adgroups each campaign 1 avg CTR 8% avg QS OK campaign 2 avg CTR 0.78% avg QS great Campaign 2 is out performing campaign 1 in this scenario
Robert, I see what your saying.. I must be heading in the right direction then because my QS reads is going up to great on every adgroup it started at ok, but now is at great... I suppose my cost will start going down soon becuase I'm heading in the right direction since my QS is going up correct?
correct but the cost different will play out slowly over time. For new accounts you typically see up to a 50% decrease in avg CPC by you 3rd month with unchanged max bids. (Proven and tested)
Soo when that QS goes up to great the cost should keep going down after that? If I'm thinking right what your telling me is I can compare the QS to my competitors becuase If I'm in a great then I'm in the right area? Do you see what I'm saying?
