I'm developing a ad widget for my users (the publisher). When a visitor clicks on this widget, I will pay the publisher for the click. To verify it is a "valid click" is I want to analyze my apache access log. Anyone know of a script to process the access log for valid/invalid clicks? Googling didn't turn up anything. So, I'm planing a 24 hour cron import of access log (combined with cookies) into a MySQL table to analyze the clicks based on IAB's Click Measurement Guidelines. I could analyze the access log directly, but using MySQL will make it much easier. If you know of an access log post processing script, please let me know before I get too far into writing my own this weekend. Thanks, Larry
Just an update. Now I have my Apache access log going into a MySQL table, I decided to do some sorting. The first one was on the Referer. I found one site displaying my AdWords ad was clicking it every 11 minutes. Once on my site, he didn't navigate anywhere. Obviously, an automated script is parsing out the links and clicking on them! Checking Google, the clicks were counted and I was charged. Well, I just added that site to my exclude list. That site has a lot of nerve stealing my money with a script clicker! You know, Google was part of the IAB Click Measurement Guidelines. Maybe they should be turned into Click Measurement Requirements!
