I know some of the power sockets in a room are definitely spurs off of the ring main but some I'm not sure if they're on the ring main or on a spur off the ring main. I've got a pin-out checker for Ethernet cables that has a remote dongle, if i plug that into one of the Ethernet ports of a powerline adapter and set the tester to auto test, then at the other socket do the same with the dongle, would a socket that's on a spur off the ring main show up any differently from a socket that's on the ring main? I want to try and avoid having to take the socket off the wall to check if I can avoid doing so
