Well, it's a funny idea to make a Sitemap generator in Java!!! a slow executing language with bad memory management. At least it runs compiled! Anyway, I tried to used it under Firefox 3.5, but I could not get it to work. I can't even make it work as script is advised to take longer as expected and asks for cancellation. I really wanted to try it, that's too bad... After a while I tryed on Chrome and it worked! Seems to be a nice tool with a very nice level of details and options. But why Java??? (you've noticed I hated Java!). Anyway for those trying to compare this tool with http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/, let me point out that they are wrong. http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ is just a little tool to make little Sitemaps with no level of customization. What we have here is way better than that and in fact, probably better (for free) than http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ by paying (despite the fact it's in Java, sorry repeating myself). Someone was asking to make a Sitemap with 500000 entries. Well there are lots of problems with that amount of links. An application managing that amount of data will have to store those information somewhere and most likely you will rapidly blow up your computer memory. Even standalone applications like Gsitecrawler are not capable to deal with the volume, and even they would, they would take several days to give a result. It's even worse when we are talking about a server application, running on a host, storing its temporary URL and results somewhere in a database, slave of bandwidth in site server and sitemap server, and displaying the result in a browser page. This simply doesn't work for such amount of data! It's doesn't work for google either since passing 50000 links they demand sitemaps to be produced in multiple files. Anyway maineexista, for the impressive work you have produced with this tool, my congratulations!
Then use the one from auditmypc mentioned in the first post in the thread. It's free and unlimited. Checks for broken links as well. To be honest though, time and effort has been made to create such a tool. You're making light of someone;s effort to say it's not worth paying for. It's kind of rude.
If you have the same service for free, why to pay for it ? ok, if you have nothing better to do with your money, go ahead and pay for everything Thanks for for taking my Reputation . Thanks, Thanks, Thanks . Rude, huh ?! What kind of humar are you ???
You're welcome and thanks for proving my point. I stand by what I said and what I did. You're just mad because someone called you on being an idiot. Welcome to my ignore list.
right now i am running it on Vista (32 bit) 1GB RAM, it works just fine. you only need to increase Java memory if you have under 512 RAM. anyways, it's free, unlimited links and it's doing the job. what else can you ask? P.S. thanks for posting the link (how to increase Java memory...)
Hey friend, can i generate unlimited or limited. I am really finding to generate unlimited number of xml sitemaps
