Im wanting to start a shop, but i do not want the "powered by oscommerce" for example.

Do i have to have that? Can i donate to them so i can take it off? Or basically any decent shopping cart which doesnt have "powered by.........." at the bottom?

    Cheers:eek:

Put the CSS on dreamweaver and look for that exact phrase. You should be able to find it and destroy it. If not then email them and ask them how you can take it off. (of course offer money)

the simplest solution would be to use something which gives you the option of either use the footer or remove the footer from within the admin panel itself.. such as drupal ecommerce. Leme know if you want me to develop you a shop.

It's easy to remove the powered by on OSCommerce sites. First thing is you have to meet their criteria for free removal. Which consists of making your shop not look like an OSCommerce site. Remove their graphics etc and the legal aspect is dealt with. Far as how to remove the tagline itself, you should get comfortable with using OSC's template system. At least enough to understand how to edit the basics. The file you are looking for is under the includes/languages/ section and the filename is english.php. The next to last line which starts with :

    define('FOOTER_TEXT_BODY', 'Copyright © '

Holds the Powered By tagline. Start after the br> and delete up to the ' , save the file and everything should be ok.

Or you can do what I did and switch to osCMax. It is a heavly modified version of osCommerce. It is great and has many features. You can check it out at oscmax.com. osCMax uses the BTS (Basic Template Structure) contribution which makes editing your template/theme MUCH easier then the stock osCommerce platform.
