Yes, of course relevant links are also very powerful but .edu and .gov links are more powerful than others if they are not spammed.

as much as i'd love gov/edu links, i think high quality content links from other important sites can be as much if not more effective.

There is certainly some good deal of power in a .gov or .edu link as long as it's relevant, and not from those spammy forums or comments. There is nothing worse than an unrelated link from a spammy forum board; totally useless and irrelevant.

.Edu links have helped me increase my rankings because of the link juice authority

I agree with that. Some .edu / .org sites are attacked by spammers that sooner or later might lowered the value of backlinks from that particular .edu / .org sites.

.EDU and .GOV links are just LINKS. It has been myth from a long period but I hear many SEO experts interviews and even my personal experience says they has nothing to do more than a quality and relevant link.
We believe when we heard the rumor but googling can help you in many ways. So, Just don't get sticky with .EDU and .GOV are consider as god of backlinks.

Recently i placed an order for 200 .edu auto approved sites from a guy and nothing seems to be indexed. It seems that those pages are already heavily spammed. Maybe Google has already blacklist those sites?

Its true Edu and govt sites are ranked higher on google and getting backlinks from such sites is always great.
However, many times such sites may not be relevant to our site.

You all are correct that these extensions are the trusted domains and Google have faith on them so it is good to get the backlinks from them but does anyone have the .gov and .edu domains from which we can get backlinks easily.

That's an old myth mate. Now Google does not give value .edu domains unless sites are authoritative.

I think in terms of commenting on .edu or .gov blogs you won't benefit much since they get spammed through and through, but maybe try contacting their admin. Be creative

lol, people here actually think edu and gov links dont work? if a site of mine or a clients is on page 2 of google and needs a quick push, we just add 10-20 gov/edu links and get the posts or comments indexed and the site is then on page one. edu and gov backlinks work everytime

How often do you actually see edu/gov sites in search results? Think about it, it is just another domain extension, if Google trusts the site and considers it an authority, that is important, SY

Yes agree with everybody that .edu, .gov links are more in weight but how can I obtain those links. I've sign up to dozens of .edu and .gov sites whenever I discus something informative on their blogs and forum and put my backlink there but within a day they remove my backlink. So anyone please suggest me how to get those links.
