Posting trouble in WordPress

When I create a post for the first time in WordPress (v.2.0.3), I can 'Save and Continue Editing' just fine. (Can also 'Save' and 'Publish').

However, when I click on Save and Continue editing thereafter...either in the same session or later on after it's already been saved/published, instead of being returned to the Editing page, here's what happens:

    > In Firefox, I get a blank page when post.php is trying to load
    > In IE6, I'm returned to the Dashboard instead of the editor.

I've researched this through the WordPress forums, and there was some connection for some people to pinging services (get rid of them, or uncheck 'allow pings' etc) which seemed to work for some people some of the time, but is not a hard and fast solution).

This is an annoying problem that is driving me crazy. Oh, I should mention that when I click on Save and Continue Editing, although I'm returned to a blank page (with firefox), the changes ARE being saved.

Can anyone offer me some advice on this?

    Thank you,

    Kat:confused:

I'd be surprised if the database backup with also backup your theme mods. The themes are just stored as files. I'd recommend you backup your whole wordpress directory.

If your host provides cpanel, you can do a complete backup of database and all files in one go and it sends you an email when it's completed.

Thanks for your help, Darren & Brilliances! I'll give that a try (yes, I do have cPanel).

I've actually never restored my backups before. Do you just restore the db, ftp all your files and walaa, your site's back up?

Yep, just tried it out. The only extra thing I had to do after restoring the db and uploading the files was adding the db user using the same password and granting access to the wordpress db.
