Hi All, Does it helps when shortening the link and posting in Facebook (not only Facebook, thorough out social media) I will post about 50 - 100 updates a day in social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Google Plus) Does it helps to post the URL directly or if shorten the URL, will I see any improvement in clicks if posted with URL shortened. If I post URL shortened may I loose the branding of my website. is there any improvement if I post URL shortened or URL directly (whats the different between them) for twitter is the URL shorten works or not? I use Hoot suite to post my updates (50-100 jobs a day into my groups, pages..etc) Please help a bit confused.
URL shorten works on twitter. but then 50 to 100 updates a day. ain't that annoying for your followers?
Yes, it seems annoying. but these are jobs that I should post them to Facebook and actually not every update is visible all my followers, no one is annoyed about my updates.
Your goals are important to consider here. If you are only using a URL shortener simply to shorten, then you are messing with your Analytics and will not get accurate data tracking on your website. The URL shorteners can give you good analytics from wherever you are using them, but a) it slows down your website loading for the user, and b) many people don't trust shortened url links because they tend to attract spammers. So, ya, you may be losing clicks. This does not mean they are bad to use, just sayin'. Also, Facebook's doesn't like 3rd party posting, like Hootsuite, but they offer their own shortener. PM me for more info, if you like, cheers!
to improve social media posts u need to Develop Relationships Boost Credibility Invite Conversation Share Blog Content Share Curated Content Comment on News and Events Make Calls to Action follow these steps,,,,,,
I think shortening the link decreases the chance of your audience being annoyed. That would not lose the branding of your website. What is important in posting is the attractiveness of your post. Short catchy would intrigue your target audience and would surely make them curious about your site.
Shortening may not be that relevant if the content is good. Now, if you really need to use a shortener, Twitter shortens anyways the link by default and you could use services like Bit.ly to create shorten custom links if you're concerned about "losing your brand".
I would suggest to remove the link after you paste it. So it will only show the link preview, the link looks ugly imo, use a shorterner if Hootsuite cannot remove the link.
